Azimuth Thruster repair
Underwater demountable azimuth thrusters are designed for easy underwater mounting and dismantling without dry-docking the vessel. This is of utmost importance to large vessels, semi-submersible oil drilling rigs and heavy lift vessels to continue operation without any delays.
Dynamic positioning thrusters are in service 24/7 during drilling operations. Interrupting drilling and leaving the site in order to repair a unit would be a costly decision. In this case FN Diving performs the Exchange on any given location.
Dry dock not necessary
A key benefit to replacing an azimuth thruster underwater is that it can be done while out in the open ocean during drilling operations or on berth during normal operational procedures of the vessel/installation. With the assistance of a crane barge, a replacement thruster can easily be installed eliminating the need to dry dock the vessel or taking it of charter.
This can eliminate the need for urgent dry-docking, minimise off-hire time and maximise the revenue-generating capabilities of the vessel. During the exchange project FN Diving organises a workshop to overhaul the thrusters on site or at our designated Propulsion workshop.
